Interview

The interview will last approximately 40 minutes and include a 30-minute demo class.  Applicants are expected to assume the role of a live instructor and conduct and engaging class that meets Shiliu's pedagogical standards.  Before the interview applicants will have time to review sample instructional materials and guidelines. 

Classes

Depending on the course, one lesson lasts 60 to 90 minutes of active instructional time. These online, real-time classes have 3-6 students that instructors teach for a whole session. Single books generally last a month while advanced topics may last 2 or 3 months. It's important to be ready at least 10 minutes before each class to ensure technological functionality. Finally, after class instructors need to assign and comment on students' homework.

Students

Most of the students are ages 9-18 (Grades 3-12). Generally, your students will change each class, but this is dependent on their course enrollment; in fact, students often sign up with a previous instructor for additional classes on different topics. 

Contract length

We require a minimum 6-month commitment from our applicants. The contract can be renewed.

Payment

We send payments through PayPal.  Classwork completed by the end of the month is calculated for the next pay date.  Earnings are paid on a business day between the 10th and the 15th of the calendar month.
